Asterix is a diminutive but fearless and cunning Celtic warrior who lives in a fictional village in Brittany, in the only part of the country still not conquered by the Romans. He gains superhuman strength by drinking a magic potion prepared by the village's druid. As the smartest member of the village, he is usually chosen for any important or dangerous mission. Asterix's adventures have featured in thirty-five books and several animated and live-action films.
